THE STORY SO FAR.........

It seems only yesterday that a bunch of spotty faced yokels known collectively as THE TENANTS won a Triple J Unearthed competition and were plunged from obscurity to superstardom via a little number called “You Shit Me To Tears”. The title track from their debut EP went on to sell 15,000 copies, reaching number 3 in the JJJ Hottest 100 competition and become an instant anthem for punters all over the country.

In the time since, the boys have resisted the offer to take up honorary positions on the Bathurst city council and have continued to do what they do best … rock hard and rock often. Their 2001 follow up EP “Caucasian Overbite” included two more radio hits “Pub Girl” and “Boredom” and further strengthened the bands wildly exaggerated claims of being the hottest young Aussie talent since Alex Papps.

Despite the major setback of operating the band without the support of a record label, The Tenants are happy to soldier on in the face of adversity.
“We find strength in the rough and tumble stories we hear about pioneering pub rock acts such as Bardot and Scandal Arse” Tenants front man Jace the Ace told no one in particular recently. “Everyone does it tough – but if we have to streamline our hair and makeup department to a skeleton crew of 9 to ensure a tour goes ahead – we are prepared to make that sacrifice”

With such commitment to the cause it’s little wonder The Tenants are considered one of this country’s most exciting rock bands and punters are eager to hear what they will come up with next. The wait won’t be long as the guys are currently working on their debut full-length album and will release the first single “Get Started” in late February. Punters can then look forward to the eardrum shaking, knees up, pants down, Tenants rock and roll circus to roll into their town.
